It's happened to me, but in a way I was able to pinpoint the problem quickly. Sometimes certain hubs of the internet go down (it's not really all one network, but a NETWORK of networks). When key areas go down, you can't get to one site from the wrong network (similar to trying to get to a store when a key intersection is closed for repairs).
I know it was happening to me on the spawn site because I could trace my request using tracert and the DNS number (don't worry about the details) and could see I was going to Washington DC and then stopping. But when using AOL, I could get through. I called my ISP and alerted them to the problem, and it was fixed in a few hours... it's just surprising things can stay down like that for a while until someone complains.
So my advice: try a different ISP (netzero, for example). Otherwise, just wait, it WILL come back up again as soon as somone notices.

all of a sudden it wont load the website, and keep getting a Page Cannot Be found, when i was able to visit the site weeks ago...
and i know that it isn't down because other people can acess it
why does and is this happening?

i'm guessing it would be a DNS issue... get a list of alternate DNS servers from your ISP and see if using one of those fixes it...
